Mrs. Cornelia Balcom, 78 years old, dies
Mrs. Cornelia Balcom 78 years old, died at St. Mary's hospital yesterday afternoon after an illness of 10 weeks.
The former Cornella Compton was born near Plainview. She was married to George Balcom there, and resided on a farm near Plainview after her marriage.
The couple moved to Winona, and 30 years ago came to Rochester where Mrs. Balcom resided until the time of her death.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Surviving are six children, Mrs. John Hong, Rochester; Mrs. R.E. Nolan, Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Hazel Schultz, Milwaukee, Wis., and Merton, Hayden and Clayton Balcome, of Rochester. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and three half brothers, Orlin, Wright and William Yetter.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Macken funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
