Richard Russell

From The Rochester Post, April 12, 1878

DIED: At Pleasant Grove, this county, on the 6th instant, Richard Russell, aged sixty-eight years.

Mr. Russell was a native of London, England, and came to this country when a young man. For several years he had his home in the city of New York, where he was married. Mr. Russell subsequently removed to Pennsylvania from which state he immigrated to Minnesota in 1858, settling in the town of Pleasant Grove, and where he continued to reside up to the time of his decease.

Mr. Russell was an intelligent, enterprising man and took a leading position in the public affairs of his town. He served as County Commissioner for several years and was an active and efficient member of the Board. As a neighbor and townsman he was much respected, and as husband and father he was faithful, kind and affectionate and greatly endeared to his family. Deceased leaves a wife and eight children - four sons and four daughters.

The funeral was attended on Monday, when a large concourse of neighbors and friends met to express their respect for the memory of the departed and sympathy for the bereaved family circle.
